The University Logo is the predominant of the six university marks and is your go-to identifier for most materials.
Use of this logo is a proud and powerful representation of your affiliation with the university, leveraging the strength of the Carnegie Mellon brand.
Sizing & Placement
Minimum Size
Never print the logo less than .75 inch or 150 pixels* wide.
*Exception allowed for responsive scaling.
Safe Zone
Leave at least 1 M-width buffer around the logo.
Color Options
The University logo, red square with the white three-line stacked Wordmark, is the preferred version. The seven additional core color combinations shown below are the only other acceptable color combinations. Use only the files provided for download.








Dos & Don’ts

Do scale entire logo proportionately as a group.

Don’t build your own logo or modify logo elements separately. Only use graphic files provided on the Downloads page.

Do leave a safe margin around the logo, including near document edges.

Don’t extend the square to bleed off the edge.

Do use the square logo to stand out over textured backgrounds and photographs.

Don’t allow the background color or texture to show through the letters.

Do include “University.” This is to distinguish us from other “Carnegie” or “Mellon” institutions.

Don’t pair the University Logo with any other mark, graphic or text, including CMU registered trademarks.
