The Carnegie Mellon University Seal is the most formal academic brand expression of the university.
Use of the Seal denotes history, academia and official purpose. Examples of these include diplomas and the highest awards or certificates as well as presidential and trustee correspondence, academic papers and presentations or official documents.
One-Color Seal
The one-color Seal can be used for formal academic occasions and products, including items for commencement, gift items, appropriate clothing and environmental graphics. The one-color Seal is available in the core color palette only.
Full-Color Seal
The full-color Seal is strictly reserved for the Office of the President and Board of Trustees. It is not available for download. If you think you have need of the full-color Seal, please email marketing-info@andrew.cmu.edu.
Sizing & Placement
Minimum Size
Print size minimum for the Seal is 2 inches* in diameter.
*Exception allowed for responsive scaling.
Safe Zone
Leave at least one ring-width of buffer around the Seal.
Color Options
The Seal can only be one of the brand's four core colors or white. Use only the files provided for download.
Dos & Don’ts
Do scale the entire Seal proportionately as a group.
Don’t separate or modify the elements of the Seal.
Do ensure that “Carnegie Mellon” is legible when cropping the Seal.
Don’t lock up the Seal with any other mark, graphic, icon or text without UCM approval.
Do keep the Seal upright at all times; do not rotate it left or right.
Don’t use the Seal and another CMU trademark on the same material without UCM endorsement.
